The Basics of Organized Real Estate in Calgary
3 Main Property Types
- Detached Homes (Single Family Homes)
- Attached Homes (Townhouses, Row Homes, Duplexes)
- Apartment Homes (Condos, High Rise Buildings, Low Rise Buildings)
1. Detached Homes
Any home that is not attached to another home is a detached home. It could be a single-family home or a home with a basement suite. As long as it is a stand-alone building it is considered a detached home.
2. Attached Homes
Any home that shares a wall with another home is an attached home. Townhouses, Row Houses, Duplexes are examples that fit this category.
3. Apartment Homes
Apartments are found in buildings of all sizes and shapes. And most if not all are legal condo units.
These 3 Main Property Types are used in organizing the MLS® Database used by Realtors to help people sort through the options for homes in Calgary.
