Townhomes and Semi Detached Homes are two more property types that can show up in the MLS® as Foreclosures For Sale. Any property type can be a foreclosure if the lender isn't getting regular principal and interest payments. For townhomes that have monthly fees those fees tend to be low as less is covered than a full condo apartment building would need covered. Still worth looking closely at to ensure things are getting done and money is being spent wisely. Condos give you the least control as a owner, townhouses gives you more control, semi-detached gives you more than townhomes while detached homes gives you the most control over the property. Having the most control means you shovel snow, cut grass, pay all repairs, etc. The fact that we have all these options with different property types is clear there is no one size fits all. Buying a Foreclosure still means buyer beware. Know as much as you possibly can before buying any property type from any seller type. Then ask yourself "If I buy This Property, What's the Worst That Can Happen and Can I Deal with It?" Very few properties overall end up as foreclosures because owners do have options.
